A site layered with historical, ecological, and cultural significance. This winery landscape design, themed “Splendor of Wine & Water”, draws from the ancient Lüchuan canal, Japanese heritage architecture, and local wine culture to create a multisensory landscape corridor — guiding visitors through water, fragrance, and memory into a destination rich with history and vitality.
Design Theme
- Water, floral fragrance, and an elegant aesthetic merge to welcome and guide visitors through the park
- Six functional zones are woven into a coherent landscape narrative anchored by heritage, ecology, and cultural programming
01 — Site Analysis
- Historical waterway: The ancient canal, rerouted and regulated in the 1930s, once flowed through the northern edge of the site.
- Climate: Subtropical · summer temperatures frequently exceed 35°C · summer breezes channeled in from nearby Park, moderating heat
- Circulation: Primary pedestrian axes follow historical corridors · vehicular and pedestrian networks separated with designated parking areas
- Site deficiencies: Lack of historical display · disconnected from surrounding resources · main entrances lack visual attraction · central plaza underused in midday heat
02 — Landscape Plan & Planting Strategy
- Landscape axes: A primary scenic axis connects the main entrance to the core cultural zones · secondary axes radiate to sub-zones
- Planting plan: Fragrant species reinforce the sensory theme of wine and flowers · ornamental species mark key scenic nodes · green roofs and green walls applied to key structures
- Revival Zone: Canal elements reinterpret the ancient river · connecting the site to its pre-industrial waterscape heritage
- Green Corridor Zone: A connected planting ribbon creates a continuous canopy experience across the site
03 — Functional Zones Master Plan
- Revival Zone: Canal water features and aquatic planting resurrect the ancient riverscape
- Cultural Creative Exhibition Zone: Flexible open-air exhibition and event spaces
- Spacetime Plaza Zone: Central gathering space for performances, markets, and community events
- Wine Art Light Zone: Tunnel form, flowing water, and light installations express wine culture
- Japanese Rest Zone: Japanese-style garden with timber detailing and stone lanterns

04 — Spacetime Plaza & Matsuo Shrine
- Design narrative: The Matsuo Shrine symbol serves as the historical origin point · water flowing from the shrine traces the journey of the winery from past to future
- Spacetime Plaza: A clean, open forecourt between restored warehouse buildings · framed views to the original factory silhouette anchor the historical narrative
- Matsuo Zone: A Japanese torii gate and heritage cherry tree create an iconic moment · water surface reflection doubles the spatial depth
- Plan layout: Circular planting beds with dense canopy trees enclose the plaza · a sinuous water channel links the shrine origin to the central pool
05 — Entrance Zone
- Entrance imagery: Two entry form concepts — a lantern pavilion (warm, welcoming) and a vine mound (organic, rooted)
- Ancient channel: The revived canal runs as a blue-green spine through the site · red light (wine), blue light (water), and green light (ecology) layer the channel with temporal meaning
- Glass paving detail: Translucent glass pavers embedded along the channel allow light to pass through to the water below
